Our Mission 

Our mission is to ensure that every student masters the foundational skills of reading, writing, and mathematics. We accomplish this through data-driven instruction and by fostering a collaborative environment where students, teachers, families and school partners work together to provide the personalized support and high-quality instruction needed to prepare every student for the academic rigor of 7th grade and beyond.

Our vision is to provide every student with a strong academic foundation, preparing them for a confident transition to middle school and a lifetime of learning. We are dedicated to ensuring all students meet critical milestones in 1st grade readiness, 3rd grade reading, and 6th grade math, which are the essential building blocks for future success.

About William H. Taft Elementary

Taft Elementary is a vital neighborhood school and Community Learning Center serving Mt. Auburn and surrounding areas, welcoming students from preschool through sixth grade. We are a proud neighborhood anchor, committed to fostering a 21st-century learning community that supports, challenges, and empowers every student.

Our experienced, caring, and highly qualified teachers create an environment where all students can achieve their highest potential. They deliver responsive, data-driven instruction that caters to the individual needs of each child, utilizing a research-based curriculum aligned with Ohio's Learning Standards.

At Taft, learning comes alive through hands-on, dynamic experiences. Students engage in discovery-based learning in our STEM Lab and growing Makerspace, cultivating critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and innovative skills essential for future leaders. Beyond academics, as a Community Learning Center, we serve as a comprehensive hub for services available to all students, their families, and the wider community, ensuring a focus on the whole child.

Community Learning Center

For our schools to transform, our communities must be revitalized. For our communities to revitalize, our schools must be transformed. They are dependent on each other and Community Learning Centers are the link.

What is a Community Learning Center (CLC)?

Schools and the communities they serve are closely linked. Seldom does one succeed without the success of the other. That's why our CLCs support student achievement, enrich and revitalize communities, and maximize the community's return on their financial investment.

We are very proud to be a CLC and a neighborhood anchor. We strive to go beyond academics to focus on the whole child by serving as a hub for community services that are available to all students, their families and the entire community. We are able to offer a variety of services thanks to the collaboration and support of our many partners and the committed community of Mt. Auburn.

Thanks to an array of community partners, our families are able to connect with a wide variety of programs and resources to support them and their families. 

A key component of a CLC is the partners who provide services and support. To manage and align these valuable partnerships, our full-time, on-site Resource Coordinator, plays an integral role in the success of the Community Learning Center.
