Student and teacher in computer lab

Introduction

When it comes to the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math, many American students are struggling to keep pace with their counterparts in other countries. But, that is not the case for students at William H. Taft Elementary.

Our renowned curriculum prepares our students to become future leaders and innovators in the STEM fields, which are essential to success in a 21st century marketplace. Our school begins a seamless pathway from kindergarten to college so that students can master the lucrative STEM fields. Upon completion of the 8th-grade at William H. Taft Elementary, students are automatically eligible to attend Hughes Center, the new STEM high school of the Cincinnati Public School District.

In addition to a rigorous curriculum, our students enjoy numerous field experiences with business partners – such as General Electric, Duke Energy, Procter and Gamble, and the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden – that serve as learning laboratories to bring STEM concepts to life. Our students have access to state-of-the-art science and technology labs that feature laptop and desktop computers, videoconferencing, video streaming, and Internet-based applications. In addition, they enjoy a full array of enrichment opportunities, including daily art and music instruction, physical education and numerous other clubs and extracurricular activities.
